Disadvantages Using Divi

Divi is far from perfect and while it is extremely powerful in the right hands, there are also several downsides using Divi which you should be aware of.

Divi is rather bloated (seriously)

There is no way to sugar coat this but Divi is quite bloated. In web development, a bloated theme means it contains codes that are often not required — resulting in the WordPress loading slower and the overall website size larger.

Ready made templates are rather 'template-y' feeling

We love WordPress themes and Divi has over 1,000 ready made templates to choose from. The problem with Divi is that most of the templates felt similar (except for the slight design changes). As a result, we might be using the similar website concept repeatedly for several clients (assuming that you are building turnkey websites).

Divi might not be effective with shared web hosting

Due to the large website size, Divi may not be the best choice especially when the site is hosted on a shared hosting plan. Based on our various speed tests, Divi takes anywhere between 1.5 seconds to 3 seconds to completely load if you are using shared web hosting and ready-made templates.

Astra Pro Review: Pros, Cons & Everything In Between

Astra vs Divi

Unlike Divi Theme, Astra Pro isn't a drag and drop WordPress builder. Astra Pro is a premium plugin that extends functionalities and advanced customization in the Astra theme. The core theme, Astra theme, is clean, lean and mean to offer only features that the majority of our users would need.

Disadvantages Using Astra Pro

Astra Pro is not a drag and drop builder, thus making it less comparable to Divi in terms of features.

Lack of drag and drop ability

Astra Pro is an addon to the Astra theme and it uses WordPress Customizer heavily. This makes it less effective compared to other website builders due to lacking the drag and drop ability. Developing a WordPress theme with Customizer can be a challenging task to be utterly honest.

Limited premium templates

Premium templates are known as agency templates in Astra Pro. While we use Astra Pro for our clients, we do find that there are not many ready-made templates that you can use.

Slightly bloated (but improving)

Last but not least, Astra Pro is slightly bloated and could be a concern for WordPress users who are looking for faster WordPress speed.

Summary: Divi Theme vs Astra Pro

Finally, who is the clear winner when it comes to Divi vs Astra? The truth is, both of them are rather unique in their own ways. On one hand, Divi is a full-fledged drag and drop WordPress builder that allows you to create almost anything and everything in WordPress without coding skills.

On another hand, Astra is a powerful, easy to use WordPress theme that integrates perfectly well with Gutenberg blocks and other 3rd party plugins including WooCommerce, LifterLMS and LearnDash.
