  • Elementor allows you to create beautiful WordPress posts and pages (compared to the standard, boring layouts)
  • You get a 100% separate interface to work on your posts and pages — the bulk of your work doesn’t happen in the standard block editor that comes with WordPress
  • No HTML, CSS, PHP or coding skills ever required with Elementor
  • Elementor is a front-end editor, meaning it shows you the outcomes of your work right away in a genuine ‘what-you-see-is-what-you-get’ manner.
  • You can create any content layout or page layout of your choice
  • Elementor works perfectly well with most of the WordPress themes and plugins

Elementor Review: Is Elementor Easy To Use?

Elementor Plugin Review How Easy To Use Elementor

Two months ago, we assisted to migrate a high traffic website to Elementor. Using Elementor Pro, we were able to build custom headers, footer and the usage of global settings helped us to rebuilt the website design fast and efficient. We were happy, and the website owner was happy too (that's the most important part).

Elementor had went a long way since it was first launch years ago. We are happy to be apart of the journey and until date, this is one of the most fun WordPress drag and drop builders we ever used.

Under the hood, Elementor is a WordPress plugin—with a little twist, it is a slightly more advanced one. To get it working, you’ll first need to install and activate it. This is all standard—just like with any other WordPress plugin. After that, there’s a settings panel that you can visit if you want to, but that’s not mandatory. You can head straight to your WordPress pages and create a new one. Right away, you’ll see the option to ‘Edit with Elementor’:

Elementor Review How To Use Elementor

If you had used Divi or Thrive Architect, it requires the same technique to kick start Elementor visual builder.

After clicking on this main button, you’re going to see the Elementor user interface. Here’s what’s what:

Elementor Review Elementor Interface

On the left bar, you see Elementor interface—you will be able to see different tabs; Basic, Pro, General, Site, Single and WordPress tabs. As a reminder, we are using Elementor Pro and therefore, you are able to see the full version of Elementor page builder. If you are using the free Elementor version, you will not see some of the functions.

In order to use Elementor correctly, it is important to understand the fundamentals of this drag and drop builder. This means that:

  • page can have any number of sections in it.
  • Each section can have one or more columns.
  • Each column can house one or more content elements.
  • Lastly, each content element can be styled individually.

Ultimately, it will be something like this:

Page → Sections → Columns → Content → Styling

Elementor Elements and Modules Review

The above image is the sample of the modules found in Elementor. All you need to do is to click and drag the module or element into your WordPress page (right side of the screen).

The below is a sample of a Text Module on Elementor.

Sample Elementor Module

Elementor allows you to style the column based on your needs. This is done on the second and third tab (Style and Advanced tabs).

Here, you can customize the column, module and section to fit your needs.

How To Style Elements In Elementor

With some tweaks, you can easily create call-to-action boxes using the styles and advanced setting. If you have coding knowledge, you can also get your hands dirty with the advanced tab, such as adding box shadows, animations and custom CSS.

Advanced Widget Options Elementor Review

As a summary, Elementor page builder is very easy to use, low learning curve for WordPress beginners and fairly intuitive. Once you have a grasp on the page/structure hierarchy and all the available elements/modules, creating a WordPress page become really fun with Elementor.

Especially when you start getting into some of the more advanced features, for example:

  • experimenting with the Z-index of elements (to bring stuff forward versus putting it in the back)
  • customizing the on-hover state of elements (changing their appearance based on the cursor position)
  • setting transitions between sections

*P.S. Elementor also allows you to easily embed Google Forms to WordPress (for those Google Forms geeks)!

*P.S.S. Elementor had launched it's own Elementor Table of Content widget which is pretty sick!

Elementor Review: Pre-Made Templates

Elementor Templates Review

All of Elementor’s design capabilities are very impressive, but what if you don’t have a design bone in your body? This is where Elementor pre-made templates come into play.

As WordPress developers, we find it time consuming to create new website designs from scratch. And when you have multiple web development projects, it gets 'busy' real fast.

Elementor comes with 150+ready-made templates available in the free version and 300+ more in the Pro version. That's a huge number to start with.

If that’s not enough, you also get what’s called Elementor Kits — collections of templates that all follow the same design aesthetic and allow you to craft a whole, consistent website. These collection of templates are even tagged based on different needs—contact us page, 404 page, homepage, blog post, services etc.

Elementor Templates For Different Purposes

Elementor Review: Is Elementor Worth Buying?

Elementor Plugin Review Summary

Finally, it is time to wrap up this Elementor review. We believe that this is biggest question, "Is Elementor better than the competition?"

Well, that depends on how we look at it.

WordPress page builders has grown a lot over the years and the three main competitors of Elementor's are still the same—Thrive Architect, Beaver Builder and Divi Builder. For many bloggers and WordPress website owners, it is always a tough decision to make, especially when comparing these with Elementor.

Here's what you need to know.

All the tools above are great and they are no doubt the top league of WordPress page builders. However, at the same time, none is hands-down better than the others at everything.

Ultimately, whether you use Elementor, Beaver, Thrive Architect or Divi comes down to your personal preference and the sort of features that are important to you, plus how you like those features delivered (in terms of user interface and so on).

We don't want to keep you hanging without a firm answer on which is the best page builders for WordPress. There’s one thing that puts Elementor significantly ahead of the others. That thing is the price—or lack thereof.

Most WordPress page builders don't come with a free version and those who provide free versions are often crappy (oppsie). This makes Elementor the best first option for anyone who is looking for an awesome page builder plugin.

👍 Pros of Elementor:

  • The free Elementor plugin is sufficient for most new websites
  • Free version offers features that are impressive
  • Elementor offers an exceptional range of features especially in Elementor Pro
  • Low learning curve makes Elementor really interesting and fun
  • Ability to build custom page layouts and designs that may not be available in your current theme and doesn’t require any HTML, CSS or PHP skills
  • Features such as inline text editing and real-time previews give you a true ‘what-you-see-is-what-you-get’ editing interface
  • The ability to adjust your desktop, tablet and mobile views separately
  • There are very detailed settings for all of the alignments, margins and padding values

👍 Cons of Elementor:

  • Adding custom styling to links doesn’t always go as planned. You may be stuck with Elementor’s default typography and color settings, which may not be what you want.
  • If something is misaligned on the page, it’s often hard to locate the exact margin value that’s the culprit. For example, you may have a primary block, a column inside it, and then a content element inside that. Each of them has its own margin settings.

Summary: Elementor Review

Before we end this Elementor review, Elementor should be your go-to tool if you are looking for a superb (and free) drag-and-drop page builder plugin for WordPress. Elementor is already awesome by itself, and there are many other addons that can further enrich the layout designs and overall experience using Elementor:

These tiny features make Elementor one of the best drag and drop visual builders for WordPress and by far, Elementor is definitely worth your money.

We recommend you to try Elementor today and we are confident you won't be disappointed!
